PLEASE NOTE:

We are in the process of moving this site from another host site.  This will take some time because of the large volume of info that must be moved, in additon to the WebQueen getting settled in her new life in a new town.  Therefore, some of the links below might not work for a while.

Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our ANTHONYs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our BATDORFs emigrated from Germany to New York, later migrating to Pennsylvania, then to Ohio, and on to Iowa.  Our Family Lin eventually settled in Franklin County, Kansas.  Our BATDORF and WALBORN Ancestors married brother and sisters.  Several generataions later, their Descendants (4th cousins) married, making all of their us double cousins . . . . . and cousins to ourselves.  (I am my own 12th cousin!)  This Family has been particularly difficult to research because the surname spelling was changed so many different ways . . . . . (15+) . . . . . all of them apparently being related to us regardless of what spelling was used.  (What "fun" for the researchers!?!?!?!)
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our BEALLEs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Although I have encountered a number of conflicts regarding our ancestry, most researchers agree that our BRUNSONs are descended from Cornelius BROWNSON.  Our Immigrant Ancestor, Richard BROWNSON/BRUNSON, and two siblings came to America from Earls Colne, England ca 1635.  They settled in the area of what is now Connecticut.  Future generations migrated to what is now South Carolina, then to Pike (now Crenshaw) County, Alabama, where my g2-grandmother, Caroline L. BRUNSON -- who is also my 4th cousin 5 times removed (4cou5r) -- married Samuel James WISE.  Many of their Descendants, as well as Descendants of other Crenshaw County families, migrated to Milam County, Texas, in the late 1870s.  Some Family Lines continued using the BROWNSON surname, while others changed to BRUNSON or BRONSON.  (More "fun" for the researchers!?!?!?!).
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our BULLOCKs have been traced to what is now Sussex County, Virginia, in the late 1600s to early 1700s.  There the trail grows cold, with disagreement among various researchers about the identity of our Immigrant Ancestor, although it is generally believed our Immigrant Ancestor came from England.  We do know that our Ancestors migrated from Virginia to what is now Robeson County, North Carolina, then to [probably] Putnam County, Georgia, and on to Lowndes County, Alabama.  My g3-grandparents then migrated from Alabama to Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, where the trail grows cold.  My g2-grandparents migrated from Lowndes County to Conecuh County, Alabama, and finally to Milam County, Texas, where my grandfather, Samuel Joseph BULLOCK, was born.  Grandp lived most of his life near Milano, Texas, died there, and is buried in the Milano Cemetery.  There are indications that some Family Lines changed the surname spelling to BULLOCH, and this possibility needs to be further investigated.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our earliest known CANTEY Ancestor emigrated from Ireland via Barbados in the early 1600s.  The trail grows cold with Teige CANTEY, who died before the family arrived in South Carolina in 1672.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our CARPENTERs emigrated from Wattenwyl, Canton Bern, Switzerland in 1706.  Our immigrant ancestor, Heinrich ZIMMERMAN (aka Henry CARPENTER, Jr.) migrated to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  Future generations of our ancestors migrated to Fairfield County, Ohio, where they were active in the development of the city of Lancaster, Ohio.  My Family Line migrated to Iowa, on to Newton County, Missouri, and eventually on to Franklin County, Kansas.  Some Family Lines changed the surname from ZIMMERMAN to CARPENTER while others continued using the ZIMMERMAN surname.  (Still more "fun" for Family Researchers!?!?!?!).
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our CLAYPOOLs (aka CLAYPOOLE, CLAYPOLE, CLEPOLE) emigrated from England.  My g7-grandfather, James CLAYPOOLE III (1700/1701 - 1789), is known to have lived in Delaware and Virginia.  He eventually settled near Lost River in what is now Hardy County, West Virginia.  Please see the OSBORN info for places OSBORN-CLAYPOOL Descendants resided.  It is possible that John CLAYPOOL(E), the third husband of Betsy GRISCOM (aka Betsy ROSS), was one of our distant cousins.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Little is known about our DYKES Family Line.  The trail grows cold with my g2-grandfather, George 'William' DYKES (1855 GA - 1890 TX) who died in either Erath County -or- Somervell County, Texas, and is buried beside his wife, Judith Ann (JACKSON) DYKES, in Rock Church Cemetery in Hood County, Texas.  The football coach, William Taylor 'Spike' DYKES, is my 2nd cousin once removed (2cou1r).
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our ECKARDs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our ELLINGTONs migrated from Granville County, North Carolina, to Illinois and then to Stoddard County, Missouri.  The trail grows cold with my g3-grandmother, Sarah M. ELLINGTON (1816 NC - aft 1888 MO[?]).
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our EWELLs are believed to have came from Ireland.  They settled in North Carolina (where the research trail grows cold) and later migrated to Saline County, Illinois.  My grandmother, Ruby Ethel (STEWART) WALKER, always told me, "My Grandfather Ewell (now known to be Bluford EWELL) was a "full-blooded Irishman", which would indicate that both of Bluford's parents (Hardy EWELL and Elizabeth ESTES) were Irish.  However, the ESTES family is believed to have come from England.  So, perhaps it was Hardy EWELL who was "full-blooded Irish".  Bluford EWELL's widow, Livona TRAVELSTEAD, remarried twice.  Livona and her third husband, John RAINEY, homesteaded near Jordan, Garfield County, Montana.  John 'Larkin' EWELL, son of Bluford & Lavona -- who also settled in Garfield County, Montana -- changed the surname spelling to EUELL.  Research has revealed that the surname may have originally been YEWELL, though more "digging" is required to verify this.  The EWELL trail grows cold with my g3-grandfather, Hardy EWELL/YEWELL (ca 1803 NC - 1875 IL).  One of EWELL researcher found a marriage record for Solomon YEWELL and Elizabeth HARDY (1801 in Onslow County, North Carolina).  We speculate they may have been Hardy's parents.  However, no proof has been found thus far.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our FINNEYs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our FORTNERs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our HARRISes __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our HARRISONs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our HELLICKs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our JACKSONs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our LOCKHARTSs are believed to have come from Scotland.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our MANNINGs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our NEWMANs lived in Augusta County, Virginia.  Of interest is the fact the my ex-husband is also a NEWMAN descendant, also probably from Virginia NEWMANs who migrated to South Carolina and on to Mississippi; but I have not been able to establish a definite link between the two families thus far.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our OSBORNs probably emigrated from England.  After arriving in America, they lived in Augusta County, Virginia, later migrating to Rutherford County, North Carolina, Gilmer County, Georgia, Somervell County, Texas . . . . . where my g3-grandmother, Mary McKuley (OSBORN) JACKSON (1824 NC - 1860 TX), died and is buried in Squaw Creek Cemetery near Glen Rose, Texas . . . . . Hood County, Texas, and Erath County, Texas.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our PALMERs came from Barren County, Kentucky  They migrated to North Carolina and/or Illinois, finally settling in Stoddard County, Missouri.  The trail grows cold in _____ with my g3-grandfather, William G. PALMER (1810 KY - 1867 MO).
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our REESes. __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our ROSSes __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our SCHMIDTs are believed to have come from Germany.  After their arrival in America, the surname was anglicized to SMITH.  My g8'grandmother, Maria SCHMIDT (aka Mary Smith) married Emanuel CARPENTER in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1868.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our SHUFORDs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our STEWARTSs changed the spelling of their surname from STUART.  They came from Tennessee to Stoddard County, Missouri.  Family tradition is that the STEWART family was torn apart by the Civil War, with some family members, such as my g2-grandfather, William Alexander 'Alec' STEWART (1824 TN - 1886 MO), serving with the Union Army and others . . . . . at least one of Alec's brothers . . . . . serving with the Confederate Army.  More research needs to be done regarding reports that Alec's brother settled in Alabama after the war and contention continued between family members because of the war.  The STEWART trail grows cold with my g5-grandfather, Alexander STUART (ca 1772 - aft 1813).
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our TRAVELSTEADs originally spelled their surname as TREFFENSTATT.  Our earliest known ancestor was Christian TREFFENSTATT who married Maria Barbara ECKARD/ECKERD/ECKERT.  They emigrated from the Rhine River Valley in Germany to North Carolina.  Their son, William, migrated from Lincoln County, North Carolina to Allen County, Kentucky. Several of their grandchildren migrated from Kentucky to Saline County, Illinois.  Some descendants migrated to Stoddard County, Missouri, where my great-grandmopther, Fannie Belle EWELL, was born and married Henry Coleman STEWART.  Their family migrated to Haskell County, Oklahoma, where my grandmother, Ruby Ethel STEWART, was born.  From there, the family scattered around the country.  My g2-grandmother, Livona TRAVELSTEAD and her third husband, John RAINEY, later homesteaded near Jordan, Garfield County, Montana, where they are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our TURRENTINEs __________.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our WALBORNs emigrated from Germany to New York, and later migrated to Pennsylvania.  Our WALBORN and BATDORF Ancestors married brother and sisters.  Several generataions later, their Descendants (4th cousins) married, making all of their Descendants double cousins . . . . . and cousins to ourselves!  (I am my own 12th cousin!)
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our WALKERs have been traced to Champaign County, Ohio, in the early 1800s, where the trail grows cold.  However, sketchy information from a couple of sources indicates that they may have come from England by way of Massachusetts.  Further investigation is needed to determine if this is the case.
FOOTPRINTS  . . . . . Our WISEs have been traced from South Carolina to what is now Crenshaw County, Alabama, where my paternal g2-grandfather, Samuel James WISE married Caroline L. BRUNSON, who is my g2-grandmother as well as my 4th cousin 5 times removed (4cou5r).  Many of their Descendants, as well as many Descendants of other Crenshaw County families, later migrated to what is nowMilam County, Texas.  Our Native American Ancestry (possibley Chatawa) probably comes through our WISE Line, possibly through the mother of Samuel James WISE (ca 1830 AL - 1864 VA).
